Rookwood Serbian Cemetery Expansion

Rookwood Cemetery contracted Devcon to deliver their expansion of over 700 new burial plots along with a bridge connection.

To complete the project our team utilised positracks, a 13 tonne excavator and tipper trucks that were all scheduled around funeral services and operations. Adaptable work schedules were developed in order to eliminate noise and disruption in consideration of both staff and visitors to the cemetery.

Environmental obstacles included sediment control and erosion surrounding a pre-existing canal. We included additional measures to ensure no contaminated run-off entered the surrounding waterways and eliminated the use of heavy machinery in this zone to avoid compromising the integrity.

Close client collaboration ensured that the initial design proposal met their needs allowing us to deliver a cost effective solution that ran on time and met the sensitive needs of this unique location.
